Keano Or Bellamy?

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments (22)

Or Both?

I think there is no doubt that Celtic will make a really big signing over the next few weeks. That may be Sol Campbell, Craig Bellamy of Robbie Keane.

We may well get all three but in all honesty it’s more likely that ONE possibly two, will make their way to Paradise.

So, taking Sol Campbell out of the equation as he’s a defender, who would you most like to see in the Hoops next season?

Robbie Keane or Craig Bellamy?

Your choice……

Five-In-A-Row For The Lenny Show…

Celtic Show Great Fight To Defeat The Arabs

From the first minute to the last, Celtic showed a fighting spirit that too often this season has been missing.

In typical Lennon fashion, every player fought for every ball and made life difficult for the SPL’s form team.

No inch was given in a game that Celtic deserved to win, especially after Dundee United resorted to kicking everything that moved.

And to round things off, the ref, Iain Brines sent off United sub Williams and gave Celtic a penalty! Although he could quite easily have sent Buaben off too, but bottled it.

What makes the victory all the sweeter is the fact that Lenny lost both comeback defenders Thomas Rogne and Glenn Loovens to injury, finishing with Darren O’Dea and Mark Wilson in central defence.

The goals came from Diomansky Kamara after half an hour, and Robbie Keane with an injury time penalty.

Lenny’s fifth SPL win secures Celtic Champions League football next season and end’s the Arabs challenge for second place.

Flaw In Game Discourages Good Football….

No Protection For Football Players

Q: What have Aiden McGeady, Robbie Keane and Shaun Maloney all got in common?

A: They get NO protection from referees in Scotland.

I’ll add Paul McGowan to that list too, after the battering St Johnstone gave him.

From the very first game of the season at Aberdeen to yesterday’s encounter with Hibs at Celtic Park our ball players have been booted up and down the park with NO protection from incompetent referees.

The game is crying out for entertainers, players that can dribble, beat a man and do things with the ball. Yet when we get these type of players, your Boogera, Webster, Weir and every other clogger in the SPL have a free rein to kick ten shades of shit out them.

Until the ball players are protected the standard of the game in Scotland will continue to drop. Which is good news for ‘spoilers’ whos aim is not to get beat as opposed to trying to win.

Who’ll Score The Goals When Robbie Goes?

Posted by: Fanzone | Comments Comments Off

Sammy? Ras? Gowser? Fortune?

Nearly all of the goals, well the most important ones, we’ve score since the January window have come courtesy of Robbie Keane’s shooting boots.

Since Keano is only here until the summer, if reports are accurate, we need to have a consistent goalscorer coming to the fore between now and the end of the season.

But who will that be?

Marc-Antoine Fortune? Well MAF has scored a few since he joined the club but is hardly prolific, and seems to be a better link man than an out and out goalscorer.

Georgios Samaras? Sammy is an enigma. He can be brilliant then abysmal, all in the one move! He does score a few goals but isn’t one to rely on.

Paul McGowan? Gowser is knocking on the door for a first team place but is just a bit short of making a telling contribution.

Then we have Morten Rasmussen. The big Dane scored on his debut but has had very little game time since that day at Hamilton. He does have a penalty box mentality and that’s something we’ve been missing. Provided we get the ball into the area often enough Ras could be the one to get us the goals.

That’s what we think, what do you think?

Visit our new poll and tell us who you think will get the goals for Celtic after Robbie’s gone!

Robbie Double Ingnites Celtic Passion!

Keane Performance Typical Of Fired-Up Celts

Neil Lennon’s first game in charge ended in a comfortable 3-1win against a second rate Kilmarnock side at Celtic Park today.

And it could have been a lot more-the Bhoys missed three great chances inside as many minutes as Keane & Co. got off to a whirlwind start.

Lenny decided to restore Andreas Hinkel and Lee Naylor to his starting line-up to add a bit more steel to the defence.  Both were instrumental in every Celtic attack.

Despite  having so much pressure it took until the 35th minute before the Bhoys took the lead. Scott Brown played a ball to Robbie Keane at the edge of the box, Keane turned and slipped the ball past two Killie defenders before his chipped the advancing Bell in Kilmarnock’s goal. 1-0 Celtic.

Celtic were well worth their lead and Aiden nearly made it two when he hit the inside of the post before the ball rebounded to safety.

No dount Lenny will have been pleased with his first 45 minutes in charge.

The second half started a bit slower with Killie stopping the game as much as possible. But that didn’t deter the Hoops who increased the lead to 2-0 courtesy of, who else?  With 66 mins on the clock Robbie Keane cut inside from the left to smash an unstoppable shot past the helpless Bell.

Only four minutes later and Scott Brown made it three after a sweeping move that saw Aiden’s cross leave Skoosh with a simple tap-in.

At this point it was looking like a drubbing but the Ayrshire Huns got a deflection to grab a goal back. Soon after Celtic should have had a penalty but Dougie McDonald did his usual by denying a stonewall penalty after a Killie defender played basketball with the ball on the edge of his six yard area.

As the game petered out Aiden ran fully 40 yards before blasting a shot off the crossbar.

All in all a good day for Lenny and the Faithful with the players showing some of the bite that has been missing of late.
